The Times, They Are A’Changin’

Today is probably one of the most exciting times to be a musician.

But that’s not what you would expect from the state of things. The mainstream music industry as we have known it is in a strange state; Music revenue is down, CD sales are disappearing, people are streaming instead of buying music, and the methods of consuming music and connecting with artists seem to be growing and changing by the minute.

The level of noise (the competitive nature of musicians trying to rise above each other) has always been the challenge to overcome; historically it has been very hard to break into the over-crowded music scene.

But with the appearance of several self-publishing music sites, like CD Baby and others, it is becoming significantly easier to for independent artists to get our music on mainstream music sites like Spotify, Pandora, Apple Music, and Amazon Music. These are channels to which we never had easy access previously.

Basic marketing techniques can now allow us to grow, identify and communicate with Fans, and thanks to the internet, we now have unfiltered access to most music buyers in the world.

Even better, is that in working independently, we have total freedom in how we can craft our music, and have the ability to express ourselves as artists, unhindered by the controls of a record label.

With a modest investment in creating a digital recording studio, we are also free from paying exorbitant hourly rates in hurried recording sessions in big recording studios. We can now take all the time we need to craft our songs in the privacy of our home studios, and with some talent, can create the most sophisticated and professionally recorded digital recordings.

This is what we are all about at Procyon Music. Our artists produce well crafted, compelling pieces of music, that stand up very well beside those of mainstream artists. Our goal is to be able to share this great music and video with you and hopefully connect in a way that we can all improve each other’s lives.

Join us, and support our artists, in this exciting time in the evolution of Music.
