David Hearn / Orion Syndrome

David Hearn

The Orion Syndrome is the pseudonym under which David Hearn produced his music for many years, as it was his performing band’s name throughout the 90’s.

A musician since the age of 10, David Hearn started his first rock band in 1980. As David’s major influences are members of Pink Floyd, The Who, Rush, and the Moody Blues, he tends to write progressive rock; guitar & synth oriented material. The music can range from dark, brooding opuses to uplifting & hopeful pop tunes. The Moodies influence and the Pink Floyd influence are in constant battle!

Mixing his interest in space & astronomy with the progressive and classic rockers of the 70s & 80s, David has created complex space music which has been described as “105% Triumphant”. With several Top 10 hits on the 90’s banner music site, MP3.Com, David’s music is an essential part of any classic rock lover’s playlist.

David’s music is now available on BandCamp, and of course the entire catalog is available here at Procyon Music.

Orion Starbirth is original world fusion and progressive rock music. Indigenous instruments such as the didgeridoo, Native American flutes, and Eastern Tibetan bells and percussion combine with electric and acoustic guitar and wind synthesizer to create a unique sound that can be exciting or mellow.

This effort is the wonderful collaboration that occurred in the mid 90’s between David Hearn AKA The Orion Syndrome, and Martin Schiff, AKA Starbirth. They combined the names of the two projects and a beautiful thing was born.
